Poland was awarded the "Ostmedaille" and the BWB for his efforts during the fightings in France and Russia

Under command of "Heeresgruppe Nord" ,Poland acted at the Wolchow front and was wouded on 22-7-1943.
Poland died after infection complications on 27-8-1943 in Armee-Feldlazarett (mot) 592
